Publishing
Overview
Once a draft source space has been configured to publish to a target space in the same Confluence Cloud site and enabled for publishing, you can use Comala Publishing as a standalone publishing app to
The Comala Publishing integration with an applied Comala workflow supports
The source and the target space must be in the same cloud site.
An existing space can only be linked to one other space for publishing at one time. Publishing configuration must be cleared to link a space to another space for publishing.
Comala Publishing Cloud does not support publishing a space’s homepage. It also cannot be used to publish blog posts.
Publishing options
You can choose one of the following ways to publish your content.
Comala Publishing standalone publishing
You use Comala Publishing as a standalone publishing app to
Publish pages individually (single-page publishing)
Publish all pages in a space at the same time (space publishing)
Single-page publishing is enabled in a space by default when space publishing is enabled. A space administrator can choose to disable single-page publishing whilst space publishing is enabled.
Publishing using a Comala workflow
Publishing of a page can be automated using Comala Publishing with an applied Comala workflow:
Publish on transition to the workflow final state
A page is automatically published and synced on a transition to the final state in the applied workflow.
See: Publish a page on transition to a Comala workflow final state
Publish a page on a workflow event using a workflow trigger
You can use a Comala Document Management app workflow to automatically publish a page on a workflow event using a workflow trigger. For example, you can set a workflow trigger publish action to occur on a workflow event, such as on a change of state, an approval, a rejection, or label change.
See: Use a Comala workflow trigger event to publish a page
You can also use the workflow final state to filter publishing of pages to
Space publish all the pages in the workflow final state in the app space settings, or
filter publishing from the publishing report to pages in the workflow final state
A workflow from one of Comala Document Management family of apps can be applied to pages and blog posts, Comala Publishing can only publish page content and blog posts are not published.
Publishing a page
The first publishing action for a page
Generates a copy of the source page content and properties in the target space
Sets the page version in the target space as version 1
Each subsequent publishing action for the page increments the target space page version. Confluence version metadata is not copied from the draft page.
The published content in the target space
Maintains, where possible, the page hierarchy from the source space
However, in the target space, the order of the published pages under a parent page may sometimes be different from that in the source space.
Comala Publishing is designed to publish to a target space that is “empty”.
Any space can be configured as a target space, but problems may be encountered on the first publishing of a source space to a target space that is not empty (except for the space homepage).
Publishing reports
Two publishing reports are available in Comala Publishing:
Publishing report
The Publishing report displays the current publishing status for pages in the source space and the target space.
The Publishing Report is accessed in the source space using the Confluence sidebar Apps>Comala Publishing option.
The report can be filtered to display pages based on their current publishing status. The displayed list of pages in the source space can be published using the Publish space option.
Toggle the report to display the pages in the source or the target space.
Space publishing report
The Space publishing report displays the details of the last Publish space action that published pages to the target space.
The report is updated after every whole space publishing action undertaken using the Publish space option in the app space settings.
The Space Publishing Report is accessed in the publishing settings in the source space: Space Publishing> See details link
