Issue Matrix in the Issue Navigator

Overview

Issue Matrix fields are visible when you add them as columns to the Issue Navigator's List View. There are three ways to visualize the Issue Matrix fields in the Issue Navigator. You can display:

• only the issue keys;

• the issue summary, or

• the entire Issue Matrix table.

Issue Matrix also provides a JQL function that you can use in Jira's Issue Navigator. You can use it to perform Advanced searching and Bulk operations on issues from a given Issue Matrix. The document issueMatrix JQL Function covers all the technical details on how to use this function.

Visualization modes

The visualization of the Issue Matrix in the Issue Navigator offers three modes:

Issue Keys 

• Only the keys of issues, sub-tasks, and linked issues are visualized in the Issue Matrix column in the Issue Navigator.

Issue Summary

• The summaries of issues, sub-tasks and linked issues are visualized together with their keys in the Issue Matrix column in the Issue Navigator.

Issue Matrix Table 

• The entire Issue Matrix table is visualized in the Issue Navigator.
  In the Issue Matrix Table mode, the table is present in a read-only version in the Issue Navigator.

Configuration

To configure the Issue Matrix visualization in the Issue Navigator:

1. Navigate to the Locations section in the configuration of your Issue Matrix custom field.

2. On the Issue Navigator card, choose between the Issue Keys, Issue Summary, and Issue Matrix Table radio buttons.

The Issue Matrix in the Issue Navigator and in the issue page share the same configuration and display the same information (columns, sorting, table headers, etc.).

Add Issue Matrix custom fields to the Issue Navigator

After you choose the Issue Navigator visualization mode, add your Issue Matrix custom field as a column to the Issue Navigator's List View:

1. Open the Issue Navigator and click the

   drop-down to switch to List view for your search results. 

2. Click the Columns button in the top right corner of the Issue Navigator.

3. From the drop-down, choose your Issue Matrix custom field.

Visualization

Let's see how the Issue Matrix is visualized in the Issue Navigator in the Issue Keys, Issue Summary, and Issue Matrix Table modes.
