Overview

The Preview feature allows you to get early feedback on how the Issue Matrix table will look in the detail view of a target issue. When you open the Issue Matrix configuration, you can enter an issue key in a section called Preview. After you enter a target issue key, you can view the Issue Matrix table with the columns and the information that it will contain.

Issue Matrix for Jira performs various configuration checks during the preview action. In case the configuration required for the Issue Matrix is not complete, you will see warnings with instructions in the preview area.

The Issue Matrix is visualized in the preview area with configuration warnings in the following cases:

  • The Issue Matrix is not configured on the view screen for the target issue.

  • The Issue Matrix does not have a custom field context for the target issue.

  • The Issue Matrix field is hidden in the field configuration.

How it Works

To Preview the Issue Matrix:

  1. Install the Issue Matrix for Jira app on your Jira.

  2. Create a custom field of type Issue Matrix in your Jira.

  3. Open the Issue Matrix configuration.

  4. Choose Issue Matrix mode, columns, and other configuration options.

  5. Enter an issue key.

6. You will see the Issue Matrix table in the preview area.

7. You can resize the Preview area.

Configuration Checks

Issue Matrix for Jira performs configuration checks during the preview action, and if it encounters any issues, you will be informed with a message with instructions.

Configuration Issues

In the Preview area, you will also be warned if the Jira configuration required for the Issue Matrix field is not complete.

In such cases, the Issue Matrix will be visualized in the Preview area, but you will see warnings of configuration issues that require you to take action.

See the example below: In this specific case, the Issue Matrix custom field needs to be added to the view screen of the target issue. You can quickly achieve it by following the Configure link, which will take you to the issue view screen.

Empty Issue Matrix

The Issue Matrix table will not be visualized in the preview area if it does not contain any issues and the Show Empty Panel option is disabled.
