Priorities and their usage

Power Admin for Jira allows you to find any priority in your configuration and get a full report about its dependent priority schemes, workflows, agile boards, filters, and service projects. You can view where and understand how each priority is used.

Power Admin also shows the projects where the priority is part of the project configuration and all the issues with that priority.

A priority is part of a project configuration if its dependent priority schemes and workflows are associated with projects. The CONFIGURED IN PROJECTS lozenge shows the projects associated with the dependent priority schemes and workflows.

Find priorities

  1. On Power Admin's Home page, select Priority from the drop-down, type a name or ID, and start your search.

  2. On the Search results page, click the name of a priority. You can filter further the priorities by using the Projects filter next to the search field.

  3. Then, the priority’s profile page appears.

Search results

The page with search results shows the following information for each priority:

  • Name and ID of the priority - you can search for a priority by its name or ID.

  • Projects - shows the number of projects where the priority is part of their priority schemes and workflows. When you click on the project count lozenge, you will see a list of all these projects.

  • Issues - shows the number of issues with that priority.

Profile page

Using the profile page, you can view all the details about a priority and its usage.

How does Power Admin for Jira track a priority’s usage?

Power Admin finds all projects where the priority is present in the project configuration. The usage information also includes the issues that have this priority.

Power Admin collects all the priority schemes, workflows, agile boards, filters, and service projects that use the selected priority by going through their JQL entries.

Usage information

A priority's usage information is presented in the Summary and Details sections on its profile page.

Summary

The Summary section shows:

  • Projects: Number of projects where the priority is present in the project configuration. You can click on the number to view a list of the projects.

A priority is part of a project configuration if its dependent priority schemes and workflows are associated with projects.

  • Issues: Number of issues with that priority. When you click on the number, you will be redirected to the Issue Navigator listing the issues.

  • Dependent objects: Number of dependent priority schemes, workflows, agile boards, filters, and service projects.

Details

The profile page's Details section shows the priority schemes, workflows, agile boards, filters, and service projects that depend on the priority.

Actions

The following actions are available for priorities:

  • Rename - click on the name of a priority to rename it. Rename is a safe activity, which means that the priority name will be updated in all dependent configuration elements referring to it by name. Renaming the priority will update all JQL queries within filters and agile boards with the new name.

  • Edit - redirects you to the priority's edit page in Jira.

  • Export - exports the priority usage information into a CSV file.

Locations

The locations feature allows you to view detailed information about the priority usage in agile boards, filters, and workflows.

Location details are not available for the usage of priorities in priority schemes and service projects.
