Service projects and their usage

Power Admin for Jira allows you to easily view and track the usage of configuration elements across your Jira Service Management (JSM) projects. These projects are referred to as Service Projects in the app’s UI.

Unlike other Power Admin elements, service projects cannot be managed and edited through their profile pages. However, that capability is available through the Projects configuration element type.

The Service Projects object represents your JSM project configurations (e.g., request types, queues, SLAs, and legacy automation) and their interactions with other objects.

Some of the other configuration elements have a Service Projects counter in the Summary section of their profile pages. You can see a list of these elements in the Usage section of this document. This counter shows the number of service project configurations that use that element.

Service projects’ cached index

We use a cached index, which is generated daily, to analyze the configuration elements’ usage in service projects. You can generate the index manually to view the latest usage information.

Simply click on the clock icon next to the service projects in the Summary section of a configuration element and select Refresh Index to perform the analysis (or Generate Index if this is your first time). Generating the analysis can take some time, especially if you have a lot of service project data in Jira.
