Overview

With Issue Matrix for Jira, you can configure actions that create and link new issues with predefined Project, Issue Type, and Link Type configurations. This feature is available in the Issue Matrix’s Issue Links mode. After configuring the actions, you can access them from the Issue Matrix table in the Issue View Screen. You can also allow users to change the predefined Project and Issue Type when they create and link issues.

You can find the actions defined in the Issue Matrix configuration, listed in the upper right corner of the Matrix table, under the "more" menu - (1) and (2) on the screenshot below.

 

Configuration

To configure Create and Link Actions:

  1. Create Issue Matrix custom field and choose Issue Links mode during the configuration.

  2. Navigate to the Actions section in the configuration.

  3. In the Create and Link Actions area, configure the settings for creating and linking issues:

  • Name - the link title visualized in the menu on the issue screen.

  • Project - the Project of the new issue.

  • Issue Type - the Issue Type of the new issue.

  • Link Type - the Link Type between the current and the new issue.

  • Allow Project/Issue Type Change - allow users to change the predefined Project and Issue type in the Create and Link Issue screen.

 

Users without Create or Link permissions for the specified project will not be able to see the action menu item.

Predefined Project and Issue Type

The Project and Issue Type fields in the Create and Link screen are populated with the respective values from the Issue Matrix configuration.

If the option "Allow Project/Issue Type Change" in the "Create and Link Actions" section is not enabled, users cannot change the project and the issue type of the issues they create and link.

 

Linked Issues

If you add the Linked Issues field to the Create screen, the Link Type and the key of the Linked Issue will be added to the Create and Link screen (check the screenshot below). By adding the Linked Issues to the screen, you can copy the fields of different custom fields from the source issue to the newly created linked issues. Allow Project and Issue Type Change

If the option "Allow Project/Issue Type Change" in the "Create and Link Actions" section is enabled, users will be able to change the project and the issue type of the issues they create and link. Users can choose between projects to which they have access, and this way, overwrite the project and issue type specified by the administrator in the "Create and Link Actions" section (check the screenshot below).
