Power Scripts and BigPicture in action

Imagine a scenario where due to the company policy, an employee needs to have their absence request accepted by the manager. Bob, who we're are logged-in as, is such an employee.

So, the first step is to click the 'Create' button on the top Jira header.

After selecting the right project ("Absences"), the 'Create Issue' screen automatically generates the request's summary. All that we now have to do is fill out all the other required fields.

Then, clicking 'Create' is the only thing left.

As a result, Bob's absence request got created and is awaiting Angela Hambleton's approval who is Bob's manager.

The request must be approved by the selected manager. Any attempt of accepting the request by the other manager or the user themselves will cause them to be bounced against the validation error.

Now we're logged-in as Angela Hambleton. After the request has been created, it landed in our open issues queue.

Acceptance will transition the issue to the "Approved" state.

As soon as this has been done, the absence is reflected in Bob's BigPicture profile.

At the same time, Angela is able to see that Bob's capacity for the 29/Nov/21 - 03/Dec/21 period has zeroed forcing her replan Bob's BPV-46 work item to the subsequent 49th week.
