Viewing Report Results

Report results may include charts, tabular data or both. Reports that have both charts and data will have a Report tab showing the chart, and a Data tab showing the tabular data.

Working with Charts

Next to the summary of the report, Dataplane will display a number of statistics related to the output data, if the underlying report supports it, such as the total average, minimum and maximum. To configure which statistics are available (or to disable them entirely), see the section entitled Configuring the Display of Statistics.

When viewing chart output, you may also place the mouse pointer over individual lines or bars in the chart to display a popup/tooltip that displays the underlying value, as shown below:

Drilling Through to Underlying Issues from Charts

Most charts include the ability to drill through to a list of the Jira issues represented by each bar or plot point. To view the issues list, move the cursor over the bar or plot point of interest, wait for the data details popup to appear, and then click the "### issues" link in the popup. Dataplane will display a list of the Jira issues in a new browser tab using the standard Jira Issue Navigator.

Dataplane places no limit on the number of issues that can be viewed in the drill through, but Jira itself defaults to a 1,000 issue limit in its Jira Issue Navigator. To drill through to a larger number of issues, follow Atlassian's instructions for tuning the maximum number of issues visible in Issue Navigator searches.

Working with Tabular Data

The data behind every chart is always available in the Data tab, as shown below:

In tabular data, click on any of the linked values in the # of Issues column to display a list of those Jira issues using the standard Jira Issue Navigator.

Searching Report Data

The table of results data includes an easy-to-use search feature. Just type any text into the search box in the top right corner of the table and the tabular results will be filtered to show only those rows where that text string is found within any of the columns.

For example, to filter a list of 52 results down to just those entries for January, type "jan" into the search box to show just those records. Multiple words or word-fragments can be used in the search box and should be separated by spaces. For example, "jan amber" can be used to filter the tabular data down to January data assigned to user Amber. When multiple words or word fragments are used, the table search engine will only match on rows that contain all the specified words or word-fragments somewhere within the row's data.

All tabular data searches are case insensitive.

Sorting Report Data

All of the columns in the tabular report data can be sorted, ascending or descending, by clicking on the column headers. If the data for your report includes more than one page of information, a set of paging controls will also appear, allowing you to flip through the data one page at a time. Multiple columns can be sorted at the same time by holding down the <shift> key while clicking multiple columns. The sort order can be also changed from ascending to descending by clicking the same column heading twice in a row.
