Tableau - Section headers in the connector URL

A connector URL has section headers which are helpful in determining and categorizing the fields available in Jira in respective sections.

If the connector URL is already created then please go to the below table for the Section header information.

How to create the connector URL?

  • Log in to Jira and navigate to the global navigation Menu (on the top)  AIO Tableau. Follow the steps mentioned on this page to create the Application links. Application links setting up step is not applicable for Jira Cloud

  • Please note that access to the app is controlled by the Access Permissions option, which is accessible only by the Jira administrator.

  • If the group (they belong to) is not selected, users will not see the Tableau Pro menu item. In this case, the Jira administrator can perform the below steps:

    • Copy the connector and import it into Tableau Desktop or Server through Web Data Connector.

    • Enter the JQL (if required) and click continue.

    • Select the appropriate fields available under the section headers to import the respective field's data.

Common

All the basic fields in Jira exists here. Issue key is selected by default in this section.
Any information related to an issue based on the key, status, priority, summary, labels, etc can be found here.

Comments

Any information related to comments in an issue can be pulled through the fields from this section.

For example: Comment Author, Comment Id, Comment Created, Comment Updated, etc.

Custom

Any custom fields that are created in Jira exists here.
The custom fields can be of Jira defaults or of 3rd party app custom fields.
Note: Though the 3rd party app custom fields appear in the section, the data might not be pulled until there’s an integration between the apps.

All the system/custom date fields that are present in Jira can be found here.

Epic

All the epic related fields can be found here.

For example: Epic Link, Epic Name, Epic Status etc.

Fix Version

Any information related to Fix version of an issue can be pulled through the fields from this section.

For example: Fix Version Name, Fix Version Id, Fix Version Release Date etc.

Any information related to a user group can be found here.

Note: User should have Jira administrator access to be able to see this section.

Note: These fields provide detailed information of the changes done for an issue.
