Dashboard HUB FAQ - "This Jira Instance DataSource"

This article explains how to fix the following issues:

  • Error message - “The data source doesn't exist, or you do not have permissions.”

  • Datasource functionality message - “This Jira Instance.”

 Instructions

To collaborate on the same gadgets with the same datasource, create a new datasource with the permission of “My organization.” Thus, any logged user in that instance can use the datasource.

1. Navigate to Apps > Dashboard Hub.

2. Click three dots next to the Edit button and select Add Datasource.

3 . Select Jira

4. Add the Name and Instance URL, and set permissions to organization.

5. Click Add.

  1. Click Edit > Configure to update the gadget.

  1. Select the datasource from the drop-down menu and click Save.

Changing the datasource on an existing gadget will remove the configuration. The user will have to reconfigure the gadget or recreate the dashboard with the new datasource.

Functionality -

The “This Jira instance” datasource is private for each user, so each user has their own “This Jira instance” datasource. If a gadget uses a private datasource, then only the datasource owner can use it. This is intended for security reasons and prevents:

  • Data leaks.

  • Users accessing information using credentials other than their own.

Our roadmap includes the ability to grant permissions to datasources. Users will be able to share their datasources with other users, giving permissions in data sources more granularity beyond just “Private” or “My organization.”
