Share migration data with the support team

Consent for sharing migration data with Appfire’s support team

At Appfire, we deeply care about our users and partners’ success. To enhance your experience with Cloud Migration Tool, we introduced a new feature for greater supportability. It lets you share selected migration data with our support team, ensuring quicker resolution of issues. You can turn this feature on after adding projects to the migration scope. Also, you can turn it off at any migration phase. Sharing migration data is usually required by the support personnel after creating a support ticket.

Cloud Migration Tool doesn’t log a support ticket to Appfire’s support team when you enable migration data sharing. Remember that you still need to choose the Get support option to create a ticket to let our team know you need help. By sharing your data first, however, you’ll get a much quicker resolution to your issue.

The data-sharing preferences are enabled per migration. This means that you need to set them in each migration you’re willing to share with our support team. Also, with this feature, you only grant our support team access to selected migration data.

You can give consent for sharing data with the support team in the following cases:

  • For failed migrations, look for the Help icon ( ) at the bottom-right corner of the page with the error.

  • For existing migrations, open a selected migration and find the Help icon ( ) at the bottom-right corner.

  • For new migrations, look for the Help icon ( ) at the bottom-right corner of any page after adding projects to your migration.

Find more details in our step-by-step guides below.

We’ll keep the data you share with Appfire for 30 days. Remember that you can stop sharing migration data with support at any time. See how to stop sharing in our step-by-step guide below.

The image below shows you where to find the help and support options for a migration.

The image shows the Help icon and Get support on this migration window containing the Get support, Visit documentation and Share info with the support team options.

When the migration data-sharing options appear

The Help icon ( ) that allows you to get help and share data is visible right from the start. You can find it at the bottom-right corner of any page after naming your migration and choosing a destination. Yet, if you click on it before including projects in the migration scope, you won't find the option to share information with the support team. Instead, the dialog that appears will contain just the Get support and Visit documentation options:

Options shown on the Get support on this migration window before adding project to the migration scope. In this case, only the Get support and Visit documentation options are available.

The data-sharing option appears shortly after adding projects to the scope and clicking the Analyze on the page. Sometime after starting the analysis process, you can view all the help and support options. Just click the Help ( ) on the analysis progress page, and you'll see them. Starting here, you can turn off, turn on, and adjust the data-sharing options on any of the remaining migration pages.

In the screenshot below, you can see all the help and support options that are available after the analysis process starts.

Clicking the Share info with the support team link shows you a list of options to set your migration data-sharing preferences. The following section explains in detail each of these options.

What data you can share for your cloud-to-cloud migrations

You can share the following migration data with Appfire’s support team:

  • Source configuration and issues
This option includes the projects and boards added to the migration and all configuration elements, users, and issues associated with these projects.

  • Applied transformations
This option includes all transformations applied to the projects and configuration elements in the migration scope. Applying certain transformations can lead to migration issues, so sharing that data with the support team is essential.

  • Destination configuration
This option includes destination projects, configuration elements, and users affected by the source configuration being migrated.

Last change time

CMJ Cloud remembers and shows when you’ve shared data or changed your sharing preferences. Each time you click Confirm in the Share info with the support team window, the Last change time is updated.
