Content Byline Item

Overview

When a workflow is added to a page or blog post, the workflow content byline item is added below the page/blog heading:

The name of the current workflow state is shown next to a color status indicator circle.

Choosing the status indicator circle and state name breadcrumbs will open the workflow popup. The content byline item will change to show the current workflow state.

For example, there are three states in the Basic Approval Workflow installed with the app.

Review state

Rejected state

Approved state

The Approved state is defined as the final state in the workflow. When documents are in any other state, the content is considered to be in a draft workflow state.

When the document is in a draft state (either Review or Rejected), if there has been a previous approved version of the content, the content byline item will include a link to the last approved version of the content.

Last approved version

An approved version of a document is created on each workflow transition to the workflow final state. If the document is now in a draft workflow state, a user can view this previous version using the byline link view "Approved" in a draft state.

The byline link is to the Confluence page version at the time of the last transition to the final state (in the Basic Approval Workflow this is the Approved state).

This last approved version does not have the workflow applied but will display

  • the Approved (Compare versions) breadcrumb

  • a byline link View pending approval to the current document version in a workflow draft state

The breadcrumb on this version indicates that the version is the last approved version created on the transition to the final state. It does not give access to the workflow popup as the workflow is currently in a draft state.

Workflow byline breadcrumbs are only visible to users with view and edit permission for the page.
