Restoring old exports on newer releases

Atlassian restricts the restoring of older exports on newer releases. Atlassian doesn't want to support this because of the testing implications I would guess. However, in practice, this has mainly been an inconvenience and not a blocker. Here is how to force the restore anyway.

Steps

If a restore gives an error about build number:

  1. get the higher build number from the error message
  2. edit the exportDescriptor.properties in the zip file to update the number - easy to edit the zip directly in Eclipse remote systems
  3. run the restore again
