Quickstart Guide

Welcome to Enhancer Plugin for Jira Cloud (JEP)!

The key is to tailor your use of the Enhancer Plugin to your specific needs. Start with the calendar and then explore the different features based on what you want to achieve. This way, you can enhance project management, customize workflows, and gain valuable performance insights in a more efficient and clear manner. Let's take a step back and start with the essentials.

Step 1: Create a calendar

After downloading and installing JEP, the first thing you'll want to do is create a calendar to manage and track time-related activities within Jira.

You can create different calendars for various purposes such as project schedules, team availability, or release timelines, and enhance them by adding multiple time frames for each day, setting recurrent or one-off holidays, and even defining half days. All calculations and reports to be performed using JEP will be based on the designated calendar(s).

Once you have your calendar set up, consider your specific needs. If you require KPIs or metrics, starting with creating custom fields with JEP would be the way to go. On the other hand, if you wish to enrich your workflow and automate certain actions, explore JEP's post functions. Lastly, if you're interested in analyzing and optimizing your team's productivity, don't miss out on JEP's Time Tracking Report.

Create custom/panel fields

You can use JEP to create custom fields that capture specific information relevant to your needs. Here are some popular custom fields you can create using our app:

This custom field enables you to effortlessly identify the user who made an issue enter a specified status. Easily track and monitor the journey of your issues, ensuring transparency and effective workflow management.

This custom field enables you to effortlessly identify the user responsible for transitioning an issue's status from one or more specified statuses. Gain valuable insights into the individuals driving status changes, facilitating better tracking and analysis of issue progress within your Jira instance.

Additionally, JEP has special panel fields that were created to overcome Jira Cloud field type restrictions. They work just like regular Jira custom fields, enabling you to display relevant information:

Gain insights into issue relationships and dependencies with this panel field that displays the linked issues associated with the current one. Easily understand the connections between different issues and streamline your workflow.

When working with sub-tasks or hierarchical issue structures, this field conveniently displays the parent issue related to the current one. Navigate between related issues effortlessly and gain contextual understanding for efficient project management.

This field showcases the epic associated with the current issue. It allows you to track progress, manage large-scale projects, and gain a comprehensive overview of your Agile workflows.

Use post functions (and validators)

Automate actions within your Jira workflows using post functions. With the Enhancer Plugin, you can create numerous post functions to streamline and automate your processes, saving time and improving efficiency in your Jira workflows.

This functions automatically assigns issues to the most suitable team members based on predefined criteria, saving time and enhances efficiency in your workflows. With this post function, issue assignment becomes effortless and intelligent. Say goodbye to unassigned, unclaimed, and overlooked tickets, and embrace a streamlined and efficient workflow.

Streamline collaboration by automatically adding users as watchers to a field or custom field within the parent issue. This powerful post function eliminates manual watcher management, ensuring relevant team members stay informed without the risk of overlooking important updates.

You can also use JEP’s validators, which offer an extra layer of validation checks for transitions within your workflows. These validators ensure that specific conditions are met before allowing a transition to occur, ensuring data integrity and workflow control. The available validators are:

This validator confirms that the parent issue's status aligns with the specified status(es), ensuring seamless transitions and maintaining workflow consistency.

With this validator, you can ensure that a designated field, including custom fields, has been set before allowing a transition. It promotes data completeness and accuracy, guaranteeing that all required information is captured.

This validator verifies that the logged-in user possesses one of the designated project role(s). It grants access only to authorized users, enhancing security and ensuring appropriate workflow permissions.

Use the Time Tracking Report

Lastly, if you're interested in analyzing and optimizing your team's productivity, don't miss out on JEP's Time Tracking Report.
