Parent Issue Field custom field

The Parent Issue Field displays a specified field or custom field from a parent issue within its subtasks. You can create as many Parent Issue Fields as needed for your workflow, automatically displaying key parent issue fields within subtasks for better tracking and clarity.

Step 1: Create a Parent Issue Field custom field

  1. From Jira settings, navigate to Manage Apps.

  2. From the side menu, find Enhancer Plugin for JIRA.

  3. Click Custom Field Configuration.

  4. Click the Add new JEP custom field button.

  5. Click the Parent/Linked/Epic Issue tab on the left-hand side of the dialogue. 

  6. Select Parent Issue Field, then click Add custom field.

Step 2: Configure the field

  1. Fill in the dialog box:

    • Name – Create a name for the custom field (this will appear on screens and can be used in JQL).

    • Field/Custom Field – Select the specific field or custom field from the parent issue to display in subtasks.

  2. Click the Save custom field button.

You must link the custom field with the appropriate screens to see them. For more information, refer to the Jira documentation.

Usage in JQL searches

You can use the Parent Issue Field in your JQL (Jira Query Language) searches to filter and sort issues.
