Agile Scrum Project

What is this template ?

The Agile Scrum Project is a demonstration kit, based on a Jira Software* (or Jira 6 + Jira Agile), which generates the starting configuration for a Jira Agile based project. This configuration includes:

• A list of predefined task to use in preparation of an Agile project
• Jira Scrum Board, Backlog
• A predefined Jira dashboard for Agile project that is connected to your newly created project

What does Agile Scrum Project Template do?

This template was created to put team that are starting a new Agile project on the fast track. Many Agile teams will do a preparation before starting a new Agile project (some organisation will refer to this as a Sprint 0 or iteration 0). By using the Agile Scrum Template, teams will automatically get a list of 12 tasks to help them prepare this project. These tasks are added to the your Backlog and can be then added to a Sprint during the kick-off meeting of the project. 

How to use the template

In Jira , create a new Gaia project and select the Agile Scrum Project template. Click on the Save button before to continue. Enter your project parameters and wait for the project to be created.

Gaia for Jira will take care of instantiating a Board, and allocate the 12 Tasks to the backlog associated to that board.

From there, you can process the tasks as you normally would, add stories and epics, create sprints, prioritize the tasks, etc., and continue on with your project.

About my own Agile templates

Your templates can contain any types of issues, so is you have any other tasks, epics, user stories (and their links to epics) that you want to automatically created for your Agile projects, then these can be added.  Check 8. Workflow to update an existing template for more information. 

* If you have upgraded from Jira Core to Jira Software after having installed Gaia for Jira, juste disable and re-enable the Gaia for Jira plugin to have the Agile Scrum Project sample template appear in your list of default templates.
