8. Workflow to update an existing template

This section explains the workflow that should be followed to update an existing Gaia template in the case you need to update your list of issues and/or your Confluence Space.

1. Create a new project from the Gaia template to update

The Gaia template to be updated needs first to be instantiated as a new project. This project will be used to incorporate all the changes and will be used to generate the new Jira Issues files and/or the Confluence Space to use in the new or updated Gaia template.

See 5. Creating a project

2. Update the Jira issues

In Jira, update the Jira issues you will be using in the new Gaia template.

3. Update the Confluence Space

In Confluence, update the Confluence Space (e.g: pages, templates, etc.) you will be using in the new Gaia template.

4. [Optional] Update the links between the Jira Issues and the Confluence Space

If you plan to use the automatic insertion of Jira Issues into Confluence Space functionality, you will need to insert the Gaia tags for Jira issue into your Confluence pages AND your Jira issues.

See 1.3. Linking Jira issues with Confluence

5. [Optional] Update the Confluence macro JQL queries

If you are using JQL queries in your Confluence macros and these queries need to point to the Jira project that will be created by your Gaia template, then you will need to insert the Gaia tags for project keys into your JQL queries.

See 1.4. Linking Jira project with Confluence JQL queries

6. Export the Jira Issues

When you are done with the modifications, you will need to export the Jira issues into an xml format. This export file will be used by Gaia for Jira to create the Jira issues.

See 1.1. Creating your own Jira issues file

7. Export the Confluence Space

When you are done with the modifications, you will need to export the confluence space into an xml format. This export file will be used by Gaia for Jira to create the Confluence Space.

See 1.2. Creating your own Confluence space file

8. Update the Gaia template

Your new Jira Issue file and/or Confluence Space can be now added to your existing (or duplicated, if you want to keep the old version of the template) Gaia template.
