Migration from Data Center to cloud

This page outlines the migration details from the Jira Data Center to the Jira Cloud using Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.

Currently, Appfire does not have a migration path for Tableau Connector Pro for Jira from the Data Center to the Cloud using JCMA.

It is recommended to:

  • Migrate the Jira Data Center data to the cloud using JCMA.

  • Install the Tableau Connector Pro for Jira application on the cloud and configure the Connector.

Pre-requisites

Migration process

  1. Install the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant on the Jira Data Center instance, refer to Prerequisites.

  2. Navigate to the Migration Assistant home screen: System > IMPORT AND EXPORT > Migrate to cloud. With the help of the Migration Assistant, migrate data such as projects, users, and groups as required. To migrate, follow the steps outlined on this page: Migrate your data.

  3. The Jira Cloud Migration Assistant offers two migration options. We recommend selecting the Choose what to migrate option, as it provides you with the flexibility to select exactly what you want to migrate.

  4. Once the migration is complete, review your projects on the cloud. Check and set up the users and group permissions as needed. For more information, refer to After you migrate.

Data migration from the Jira Data Center to the cloud is independent of application installation or configuration in your cloud instance. We recommend that administrators verify that all your data (projects and user configurations) are displayed properly after the migration process is completed.

  1. Install the Tableau Connector Pro for Jira application on the cloud instance. Refer to Installation.
