Prerequisites

  • Jira Server/Data Center must have access to Appfire resources to connect to the Jira Cloud site. If internet access is restricted, ensure connectivity to our Cloud API and file storage is permitted.

  • You need Jira System Administrators permissions on Jira Server/Data Center and Jira Cloud.

  • You need Site or Organization admin permissions on the Jira Cloud site to create connections and perform migrations. This means that the user you use to create a connection to Jira Cloud must be added to the site-admins or org-admins group on the Jira Cloud site. Learn more about creating connections to Jira Cloud sites.
You can also learn more about the administrative roles in Atlassian’s documentation.

  • You need to have the Service project agent permission on the Jira Cloud site if you want to migrate Jira Service Management (JSM) configurations.

  • You must install Cloud Migration Tool on your Jira Server/Data Center. Visit the installation instructions.

  • You must install Configuration Manager for Jira Cloud on your Jira Cloud site. Visit the installation instructions.

  • You need an Atlassian API token for your Atlassian account. Learn why you need an API token and how to get one.

  • You must install the third-party apps from your Jira Server/Data Center instance on your Jira Cloud site.

App compatibility

Note that third-party apps, even if available for Jira Cloud and Server/Data Center, will work differently in most cases. Please contact the third-party app vendor regarding the migration procedure for the app data.
