Scheduled refresh is failing for Web Data Connector 2.x
This page describes the known issue of scheduled extract refresh failing for Web Data Connector 2.x with Tableau Server 2023.1 and above versions.
Issue
Web Data Connectors 2.0 scheduled refreshes for data sources are failing for a few Tableau Connector Pro for Jira app Customers.
Environment
Tableau Connector Pro for Jira (Scheduled extract refresh defined for datasource inside Tableau server)
Tableau software v2023.1 and above.
Limitations with Tableau software v2023.1 and above
WDC 2.0 scheduled refresh for data sources is not run as scheduled.
The URL whitelisting process throws a Tableau internal error similar to the “Secondary URL” not valid.
Observations
For some of the Tableau server customers, the following observations are commonly noted:
“Manual refresh” works as expected in Tableau Desktop.
“Scheduled refreshes” is failing for a few customers who recently either:
Upgraded their “Tableau Software” to v2023.1 and above
or Installed “Tableau Software” in recent times
A few customers facing scheduled refresh issues have contacted “Tableau Software Support” to resolve the issue.
Tableau software updates
WDC 2.0 is marked deprecated.
WDC 3.0 supports “Tableau Server” only; it is not yet compatible with “Tableau Cloud”.
There is an issue with the whitelisting process on the Tableau Server v2023.1 and above.
Tableau has marked WDC 2.0 as deprecated, and the connectors will continue to function normally until they are retired in Dec 2025.

Workaround
Whitelist the URLs again and test, refer to Tableau Server (Hosted Jira).
If the issue still persists, reach out to Tableau Software customer support.
