Comment Custom Field
This page is about JEP Cloud. Using Jira On-Prem? Click the On-Prem button above.
The Comment Custom Field allows users to easily view the first or last comment made, the user(s) who made these, and the time that they commented. You can put everything you need to know about the comments within an issue in one simple place and define as many comment fields as you want.
To create a Comment Custom Field, follow these steps:
Navigate to Apps > Enhancer Plugin for Jira > Custom Field Configuration.
Click the Add New JEP Custom Field button.
Click the Comment tab on the left-hand side of the dialogue.Â
Select Comment Field, then click Add custom field.
Fill in the dialog box.
Create a name for the custom field (this will be displayed on screens and you will use it within JQL).
Select First or Last to specify whether this custom field displays the first or last comment.
Check the Show user box if you want the commenter’s name to be displayed in the comment field.
Check the Show timestamp if you want to add the comment date info to the comment field.
Click the Save custom field button to create the custom field. The custom field will now appear in the issue view:
If you want to see HTML formatted, you need to change renderer type to Wiki. To do that, follow these steps:
Navigate to the related field configuration page and click on Renderers.
Select Wiki Style Renderer and click Update.
Remember to add this custom field to the appropriate screens so that it can be visible and accessible when working with issues. If you don’t know how, check out the Jira documentation.
It's important to note that for new or updated issues after creating this custom field, the custom field values will automatically update correctly. However, for existing issues, it's necessary to regenerate the issue in order to see the correct values associated with the Comment Custom Field.
