Jira licensing requirement for Configuration Manager for Jira on Cloud
This article explains the Jira licensing requirement for Configuration Manager for Jira to perform migration on Cloud.
Migrations to Jira Cloud on the Free plan are not supported. To know about the Free plan refer to https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/explore-jira-cloud-plans/#Free
One must have the Standard, Enterprise, or Premium cloud plan on the destination Jira Cloud site. Trial or paid licenses of these three types are supported. Please refer to Jira Cloud plans here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/explore-jira-cloud-plans/.
To perform migration on a Jira Production site, Jira should have a Paid license, Trial license will not work.
The plan of the Cloud Jira (PAID or FREE) is determined by the minimum plan of one of the main applications installed - Jira Work Management (Core), Jira Service Management, and Jira Software.
If one of these is free, CMJ Cloud will show the below error message.
The plan of the Jira applications can be checked in the Billing section of the Jira Cloud. Refer to Manage your subscription for Standard and Premium plans | Atlassian Support
One can also check by executing the following REST command on the Jira Cloud instance: "https://<yourcloudinstance>.atlassian.net/rest/api/3/instance/license"
It says if the Jira applications are on the PAID or FREE plans.
