Transitions in the basic approval workflow
Basic Approval workflow transitions
In the Basic Approval Workflow, in the Review state, the document can undergo one of three transitions
approve and reject transition
The approve and reject transitions are part of the content review named Review this page in the Review state.
These occur when a user chooses to either approve or reject the Review state content using the content review buttons in the workflow popup.
The workflow popup progress tracker displays the workflow states Review and Approved.
The Rejected state is hidden from the progress tracker path.
Mouse over the Approve or Reject button to display each destination state for each content review outcome below the progress tracker bar.
updated transition
If the content is edited and saved in the Basic Approval workflow Review state, the document remains in the Review state but the workflow logs this as an updated transition event.
This updated transition event removes any reviewers from the content review if they have been manually assigned using the workflow popup
In the published (final
) Approved state, if the content is edited and saved, the document will move to the draft state Review
This transition is not implemented through the workflow popup. The workflow automatically transitions when the content is edited and published.
Adding or removing a label or attachment does not action the updated transition.
Documents in the Rejected state can also be approved, and the document will transition to the Approved state.
The content review in the Rejected state can also be rejected by a reviewer.
A rejection decision whilst in the Rejected state does not cause a transition in this workflow. It simply remains in the Rejected state, but the event of rejecting the content is recorded in the workflow document activity history.
If the document is edited whilst in the Rejected state, the Basic Approval Workflow actions an updated transition to the Review state.
