Use case vocabulary
Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ) provides many enterprise-level features that can be utilized in various use cases. The different types of snapshots, deployment modes, and additional options make Configuration Manager very powerful and flexible.
In the use cases, we will often use the vocabulary described below, so make sure you get to know the terminology.
Snapshot type
Project configuration snapshot - exports one or more projects with their configurations.
Project with issues snapshot - exports one or more projects with their configurations and issues.
System configuration snapshot - exports all projects in the system plus the Jira system configuration.
Deployment mode
Merge project mode - merges one or more projects from a project snapshot with existing projects.
New Project mode - deploys a single project from a project snapshot.
Merge configuration mode - merges a system snapshot configuration with an existing Jira configuration.
Restore configuration mode - replaces your current Jira configuration with a configuration from a system snapshot.
Additional snapshot elements
Filters - the option to add more filters that aren’t included in the snapshot.
Agile Boards - the option to add more agile boards that aren’t included in the snapshot.
Dashboards - the option to add more dashboards that aren’t included in the snapshot.
