How to resolve the Reporter: Anonymous user error while creating issues in child project

This article helps you to resolve the Reporter field error while creating issues in the child project by using the Create Issue post-function through Create on Transition app.

Instructions

  1. Login to Jira as an Administrator.
  2. Click on > Projects > Project Settings
  3. Select the workflow that is associated with the project and click on Edit
  4. Click Add post function and select Create Issue from the list and click Add
  5. Configure the Create Issue post function.
    In this case, a post-function is configured to create a ticket in the child project of Task issue type when transitioning the ticket to the In Progress status.

  6. Publish the workflow.
  7. Create a sample ticket.
  8. Transition the ticket to In Progress status and test the changes that were made.
  9. Navigate to the ticket that is created upon transition and check the field value of the Reporter

  10. Go to the permissions that are associated with the project and edit the Create Issue permissions accordingly:


  11. Once the user has a Create Issue permission in the child project, the Reporter field is no longer shows the reporter as Anonymous.


To avoid the reporter error in the first place, make sure to provide the required permissions to the user or add the user to a specific project role where the permissions are already granted.
