Scenarios
Introduction
To find the optimal scenario or a version of a plan, you have to consider multiple factors, such as risks and delays, as well as pay close attention to the availability and workload of the resources.
With the Scenarios feature, you can try out different variants of a plan, compare the results, and find the best one.
Synchronization
When you create a scenario, changes to the tasks are synchronized with monday after merging. All changes made to tasks are stored in the scenario history. You can also undo changes.
Undo
In scenario mode a special Undo button is available. This button can be used multiple times to reverse any change done in the scenario mode. If you have two tabs open (in one tab, the Gantt module is in the live mode and, in another one, in the scenario mode), the undo option is NOT available.
To reverse the action:
Click on the Undo button.
Plan work with scenarios
You can create two scenarios per box:
One public scenario + one private scenario
Two private scenarios
Create new scenarios
To create a new scenario:
Click on the Live button in the top-left section of the screen in the module header.
Expand the drop-down and click the Create new scenario button.
Name a scenario and color code it (you can change it later).
Use the Private toggle switch to define the visibility.
Click Create to start working in the scenario mode.
Disabled options
When scenario mode is activated, some actions are disabled in a right-click menu, and a tooltip appears as below:
Switch between scenarios
To switch from one scenario to another:
Click on the Scenario drop-down.
Select the scenario.
To compare scenarios, you can open the Gantt module in a new window of the browser.
Scenario history
The scenario history lets you track changes to tasks. To open the scenario history, click Review changes in the top-right corner of the scenario box.
For each change, the following information is displayed in the history dialog:
