How to add Issue Key on issue Summary with JSU

This article illustrates steps to add an issue key to the summary of an issue in Jira when using the “Create A Linked Issue (JSU) Function” using the JSU Automation Suite for Jira Workflows plugin.

 Instructions

Follow the steps below:

  1. Access Post-Function Configuration OR Add a New Post-Function: Navigate to the workflow settings of your project in Jira. Locate the transition where you want to add the issue key to the summary and access/create the post-function “Create A Linked Issue (JSU) Function”.

  2. Add a Sub-Function: In the Sub-Functions section, add a new sub-function. Select the "Copy to New" function provided by the JSU plugin from the list of available, then in the first field, add “Key” to “Summary”. Then, you can use the append option, for example, and use any separator as you please. Here’s our example:

  3. Test the Functionality: Test the functionality by transitioning an issue through the designated workflow transition. Check the summary field to ensure the issue key has been appended correctly. From our example, here’s the result:

  4. Adjust as Needed: If necessary, you can adjust the configuration or parameters of the post-function to meet your specific requirements.

  5. Monitor and Maintain: Regularly monitor the behavior of the added post-function to ensure it continues to function as expected. Make any necessary adjustments based on changes in project requirements or system updates.
