How to resolve 413 error during attachment upload via Chat Widget

This article is for resolving 413 HTTP status errors during the uploading of attachment (any files/images) via Chat Widget.

 Instructions

  1. Click Settings in the top right corner of your Jira instance

  2. Go to Field configurations

  3. Select something like ‘Jira Service Management Field Configuration for Project <your project key>

  4. Find ‘Attachment’ field

  5. The attachment field should not be hidden. If “Hide” button can be seen, it’s proper setting then. If “Show” text is shown in “Actions”, then it means that this field is hidden, and it will result to 413 error.

The error can be caused by the fact that Chat app cannot read attachment file from the Jira issue if attachment field is hidden from the issue.
