Set resolution in team-managed projects
Problem
You may have a scenario in which you want to configure an automated action in Canned Responses Pro to set the issue status to DONE Done and resolution to APPROVED:
However, once you save the settings related to the Canned Responses Pro template configuration and you try to use this template directly in the Jira issue, it may not work. This issue could arise due to the absence of a Resolve issue screen associated with the DONE transition in your Jira settings. To verify this:
Open Google Chrome.
Click on the Settings menu (three dots in the top right).
Go to More Tools > Developer Tools.
Click on the Network tab.
Enable Preserve log and Record network log.
Try using the template again.
Look for the error message in the Network tab.
Solution
To resolve this issue, you have to associate the Resolve issue screen with the transition to DONE. You can refer to the following Atlassian documentation: Map a screen to a workflow transition in Jira company-managed projects | Jira | Atlassian Documentation, and Editing a workflow when it shows “You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow".
However, this feature is exclusive to company-managed projects due to a restriction in Jira. In team-managed projects, it is not possible to incorporate a Resolve issue screen: Set Resolution Field for Team Managed Project Jira Issues | Jira | Atlassian Documentation.
You can create a workaround for this. In Canned Responses Pro, you can create 2 steps of automation:
To change the transition to DONE
To initiate precise Jira automation, triggering a resolution change, such as setting it to WON'T DO
For point 2 (How to trigger Jira automation), you can refer to the product documentation.
