QR codes and labels

This page is about Assets & Inventory Plugin for Jira Cloud. Using Data Center? Click here.

A QR Code (stands for "Quick Response") is a mobile phone readable bar code that can store website URLs, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses, and pretty much any other alphanumeric data.

Assets and Inventory Plugin’s QR Codes feature allows you to customize QR templates and streamline the process of printing labels for your assets. By placing QR codes on assets, users can easily manage and track inventory by scanning the codes using compatible devices or label printers. When a QR code is scanned, it redirects the user to the asset detail page in Jira, where they can find connected Jira issues related to that asset. The feature also supports bulk QR code printing.

QR template configuration

The QR Code Configuration provides a wide range of options to tailor your QR codes and labels according to your specific requirements. To configure QR templates, access the app settings and navigate to Settings > QR Templates > + QR Template. Alternatively, you can click Print QR code button on the Asset Navigator and select Add a new QR template.

You can create as many templates as you want. The following options are available for QR template configuration:

  1. Name – Assign a name to the QR template.

  2. Description – Optionally, provide a description for the template.

  3. Layout – Choose the layout orientation for the QR code and label, such as horizontal QR first, horizontal label first, vertical QR first, vertical label first, QR only, or text only.

  4. Measurement unit – Select the unit of measurement for specifying dimensions, such as pixels, millimeters, or inches.

  5. Label – Customize the appearance of the QR box and adjust its width, height, margin, padding, and visibility of the border line. Keep in mind that the box of the QR should match the paper size.

  6. QR code – Define the content to be displayed when the QR code is read. Specify the QR size in pixels and select the asset attributes to be included in the QR content. You can add any available asset attribute and set a delimiter for displaying multiple values.

  7. Attributes – Configure the attributes to be shown on the printed label, including header attributes and body attributes.

  8. Font – Select the font family for the label text, set the alignment, and define the font size.
