How to re-establish notifications after app re-install

If a user decides to uninstall the Jira Integration+ app from Slack and then reinstall it later, they may experience issues with notifications not appearing correctly in certain channels. This guide outlines the steps to troubleshoot and resolve these notification issues effectively.

Step 1: Verify the Webhook in Jira

  1. Check for Existing Webhook
    Start by verifying whether a webhook exists in Jira for the Slack integration:

    • Navigate to your Jira settings and locate the webhook associated with Slack notifications.

    • Even if the webhook is present, it can have been corrupted during reinstallation.

  2. Re-create the Webhook

    • Delete the existing webhook to ensure any potential corruption is removed.

    • Add a new webhook in Jira following the standard setup process for Slack integration.

This step is essential to re-establish a clean and functional connection between Jira and Slack.

Step 2: Reconfigure Notifications in Slack

  1. Access Channel Configuration

    • In Slack, use the /jira-plus configure command within the affected channel to open the configuration options for notifications.

    • Carefully reconfigure your notification settings as needed, ensuring they align with your preferences and requirements for that specific channel.

  2. Verify Webhook Presence in Jira

    • Confirm that the newly added webhook is visible in Jira and is correctly linked to the Slack integration.
