Attachment upload errors in Jira DC

Problem

Sometimes, seemingly random file uploads from Slack Integration+ fail with an error:

“Something went wrong adding an attachment to <[Jira Issue Key]|[Jira Issue Key]> Support reference code 1716328547791. We couldn’t upload attachments that were too large to [Jira Issue Key]: 0 Maximum attachment size is set by your Jira administrator.”

 Solution

Several factors can cause this error, so it’s necessary to check a few things:

  1. Confirm that your Jira file upload limit exceeds the file size you intend to upload.

  2. Review the permissions of the user uploading the file to Jira and the Main Authorized User. You can verify this by attaching the file directly to the issue in the Jira UI as those users.

  3. If you are operating Jira in a clustered environment, ensure that your shared file system contains all directories necessary for Jira, particularly the caches directory.
