5. Logging

Goal

This section shows instructions for generating log files for debugging, in order to help our customer support analyze your issues.

Pre-requisites

This tutorial was written considering that :

  • you have Gaia Activity installed and running on your Jira server;
  • you have administrator rights on that Jira instance.

Enabling Logging

If you have any issues with Gaia  Activity, you can enable the logging capability to try to find the root of the issue.

The log file is helpful to us in order to help you debug the problems you had.

To do this, please follow this steps:

Go to the "Logging & Profiling" page, under "Troubleshooting and support" of the "System" section in the administration;

Under "Default Loggers", configure a new package logger.

    1. Set the "Package name" to : "ca.nuum.activity"
    2. Set the Logging level to "DEBUG".

The log files are generally written in the log directory of your JIRA Home Directory. Find the atlassian-jira.log file there.

For details about logging, or if you can't find the file, see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Logging+and+Profiling.
