Selecting Reports
- David Goldstein
Creating a New Report
To select a report in Arsenale Dataplane, from JIRA's top-level navigation, simply click on Dataplane Reports, then Reports, and then New Report to see a directory of available reports.
Each report in the report directory includes a brief description of the report and an example thumbnail image of the report type. To choose a report, click on the report title or the associated Select button.
By default, Dataplane will display the complete list of report types. To further refine your report selection, you can also click one of the report categories below New Report. The following report categories are available:
Â
Category | Description |
---|---|
All | Displays all reports supported by Dataplane, including all of the reports in the categories below. |
Advanced | Advanced Reports are for power users who want maximum control over report configuration and assumptions about issue lifecycle or JIRA configuration. These reports are the basis for most other reports in Dataplane, providing the ultimate flexibility in reporting. All of the reports that were available in Dataplane 1.3 and lower are available in the Advanced category. |
Current Metrics | Current Metrics reports are used for taking a snapshot status of your projects and programs. These reports return results based only on the current values of issue fields. No historical field values are used. |
Service Performance | Service Performance reports focus on the responsiveness of your teams to processing and responding to customer or client requests. |
Team Performance | Team Performance reports give you tools to analyze the velocity, productivity, work loads and responsiveness of your project teams and team members. Â |
Working with Saved Reports
If you have previously saved reports in Dataplane, or if other users have saved reports and shared them with you, you can also click the My Reports, Shared With Me and All Reports tabs on the left-hand side of the report directory to view those reports. Reports saved by other users can be viewed and run just like reports you created yourself, by clicking on the report name and/or clicking the toolgear dropdown and selecting Run. However, only the owner of a report is able to modify that same report. (To modify a report created by another user, you can still click Run or Configure to load the report, then use the Save As button on the Report tab to save a copy of the report. Next, edit the saved copy, and then optionally share your saved report back with the original user.)
Reports can be marked as a personal "Favorite", which adds the report to the current user's Favorites tab. To favorite a report, simply click the star icon to the right of the report name.
To perform other operations on a saved report, click the toolgear dropdown to the right of the report name:
The Run option allows you to execute the report directly, without further confirmation. Running a report by clicking Run is identical to clicking on the report name or thumbnail directly.
The Configure option allows you to see and modify the report configuration without running it first. Especially for long-running reports, or reports whose configuration you know needs to be modified, the Configure button allows you to quickly access the configuration page.
The Edit Properties option allow you to edit the name, description and sharing options for the report. You can only edit the properties of a report that you created yourself. (However, you can favorite another user's report by clicking the "star" icon within the report directory, without needing to access the Edit Properties dialog.)
If you need to modify another user's report, simply load the report using the Configure option, make the desired changes, then click Save As to save it as a new report of your own. You may then optionally share the report back with the user who originally created it.
Finally, the Delete option allows you to remove a report from the report directory. This option is not available for the reports of other users. Dataplane will display a confirmation before proceeding with the deletion.
