Links overview

The Links configuration allows you to map links between issues relations such as parent/child, relates to/related to between Jira and Azure DevOps.

For example, if one item blocks another in Jira, you can create a blocks / is blocked by link between them, providing additional context by identifying how the two are related.

Refer to Jira’s Linking Issues page for more information.

Jira and Azure DevOps use links to establish relationships between issues. To preserve these relationships during synchronization, you can map these links in the sync profile.

Links is an optional feature that is not required to complete a synchronization profile.

Jira has four default issue links, although you can also create custom links depending on your configuration.

  • relates to / relates to

  • duplicates / is duplicated by

  • blocks / is blocked by

  • clones / is cloned by

Common links used in Azure DevOps include:

  • affects / affected by

  • parent / child

  • duplicate / duplicate of

  • reference by / referenced

  • related / related (this link is non-directional)

  • tests / tested by

Note that the relation links you define in the Custom setup under Hierarchy won’t be visible for the Links configuration as the Custom setup has a higher priority over Links.

Configure Links

  1. From the Sync Profile, click Links in the left-side menu.
