Restrict an announcement to be viewed only once for a user using Announcer for Confluence

This article explains how to restrict a Confluence announcement to be viewed only once for a given user, irrespective of the number of times the user logs into the Confluence instance.

Instructions

  1. Log into Confluence as an Administrator.
  2. Select the Cog wheel () > Manage apps.
  3. Select Announcements under the ANNOUNCER FOR CONFLUENCE section from the sidebar on the left.
  4. Go to the intended announcement under Active Notifications in the Announcer Configuration page.
  5. Click Edit  icon to see the respective announcement editor.
  6. Click Show advanced options and unselect the checkbox option Show announcement upon every login as shown below:
  7. Save the announcement and log out of the Confluence instance.
  8. Log in now to see the announcement.
  9. Click Dismiss to dismiss the announcement. 
  10. Now re-login to the same instance and observe that you do not see the announcement. 

If the user does not click on the Dismiss button then the announcement is displayed on every login of the respective user.
