Overview

The Board Summary automatically fetches, calculates and summarizes the values of all the columns in a board. Thus, you have the big picture of your board without being distracted by individual items.

Not all the columns can be summarized, for example a text column. As a quick check, go to the column settings and look for the “Show column summary” option, if you don’t find it, a summary cannot be created.

It automatically calculates the summaries, but you can decide which columns to display, and how to calculate the summary of each column.

This gadget automatically displays the summary of all your columns in a board, any board from any workspace.

Configuration

Name your gadget meaningfully, so everyone knows at a glance what it is about and when to use it. Fill out the rest of the fields as applicable, namely:

  • The datasource, indicate the monday.com account where you want to fetch the data from.

The variables, where each one:

  • The workspace, the board and the column where the items are located. Any workspace, board and column can be selected

    • The filter for the board items. You can filter the items of the column using the filtering mechanism.

  • The aggregations to perform calculations -Count, Count (distinct), Sum, Min, Max, Mean, Median- over the results.

The cards, where each one:

  • The view type

    • Icon Cards, where you can visually display any result of the formula with an icon.

    • Donut Cards, where you can represent percentages in a donut chart.

  • The formula expression accepts the previously created variables, integers and float numbers e.g., a, b, -5, 100, 23.32 or -1,000,000.2 etc. And mathematical operators like + (plus), - (minus), * (multiplication), / (division) and ( ) (parenthesis).

  • Finally, indicate if you want to use the current settings for all the compatible gadgets in the dashboard. This option eases the pain of configuring one by one the rest of the gadgets with the same default configuration.
