Requirements

  • Power Custom Fields® 4.0 is compatible with Jira 7 only, starting with Jira version 7.0; JDK version should be at level 8.
  • Power Custom Fields® 4.0 bundles the KATL-Commons app. It is upward compatible meaning it works with any KATL-Commons version 4.0 and up. For more information, see Installation Notes section.

Installing directly from the Atlassian Marketplace

If you are connected to the Atlassian Marketplace website from your JIRA administration console, you can install our apps directly from the Marketplace. For more information, see Installing add-ons and Universal Plugin Manager pages.

  1. Log into your Jira as Admin.
  2. In the cog wheel menu, go to Add-ons.
  3. In the search field of the Find new add-ons section, search for Power Custom Fields®.

This installation method is the quickest way. You can also install by file upload, as described in the next section.

Installing by file upload

  1. Download the Power Custom Fields® file from the Atlassian Marketplace.
  2. Log into your Jira as Admin.
  3. Go to Administration > Add-ons > Manage add-ons.
  4. Click Upload add-on and select the file you downloaded, and click Upload.
  5. (Optional, but highly recommended) Enable logging on our modules. 
    To do that, 

    1. Open the Jira log4j configuration file: JIRA_INSTALL_DIR/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties with a text editor of your choice and add the following lines at the end of it.

      log4j.logger.com.keplerrominfo=INFO, filelog
      log4j.additivity.com.keplerrominfo=false
    2. Restart Jira.

Good practice

If you are already using a previous version of this app and you are installing a new one, clear the cache of your browser after the installation to avoid errors due to the javascript changes.

Installation Notes

Power Custom Fields® consists of the app itself and one dependency – katl-commons – a library with utility routines and the SIL® language parser.

KATL-Commons is shared across our power portfolio products. If you disable it, the functionality built on top of it will stop working. KATL-Commons is published on the Atlassian Marketplace, and we recommend that you install updates compatible with this app as soon as they appear.

What should I do if I installed an incompatible version?

  1. Uninstall Power Custom Fields®.
  2. Uninstall KATL-Commons.
  3. Install the version of Power Custom Fields® that is compatible with your Jira version. Ensure that you use the OBR file you downloaded or use directly the UPM search and install feature (recommended).

  4. KATL-Commons should now have the right versions as well.

  5. Check any dependent apps, such as Power Scripts for Jira or Power Actions for Jira, etc. Note that these apps must be re-enabled manually.
