2. Creating (Instantiating) a new Activity (and its issues)

Goal

This section explains how to instantiate the components (issues, pages, filters, extensions) of an Activity Template.

Pre-requisites

This tutorial was written considering that :

• you have a Jira instance installed and running on your server, with Gaia Activity running;
• you have the proper global permission to add new Activity templates
• you have already created an Activity Template with a Jira Issue Component (step 1.1 and 1.2)

Creating the components (issues and filter) of an Activity

1. From the Jira Projects menu in the top bar, select the project you wish to create your template in.

Know that issues stored in your templates can be instantiated in as many different projects as you want. You must consider, however, the project configurations. See your administrator for details.

2. Then, Select the Gaia Activity sidebar on the left section of your projet. 

Depending if the sidebar is collapsed, you may only see our running mate.

3. Click on the Create Activity button to begin the creation process

4. Name your activity, and select the proper Template you wish to create issues with

The activity you instantiate will generate issues all to be executed in regards with a business or development specific activity. In this context, a new software delivery is planned for customer Acme and all issues will be instantiated.

5. Click Create

That's it! The issues and filters have been created!

6. Observe the components that have been created

You may click on the Action button to see the activities that have just been created. Notice that a JQL function is created in order to search for created activities, and filter issues that are part of a specific activity.

Also, a filter has been created, as the template we have added contained a Filter Component by default.
