1.2 Creating a new Activity Template

Goal

This section shows instructions for creating an Activity Template with Gaia Activity.

Pre-requisites

This tutorial was written considering that :

  • you have a Jira instance installed and running on your server, with Gaia Activity running;
  • you have the proper global permission to add new Activity templates
  • you have already created a Jira Issue Component Template (step 1.1) to add to this new Activity Template

Adding a new Activity Template

1. From the Activity Menu item in Jira top menu bar, select Manage templates

You obtain a list of available Activity templates that can be instantiated. Let's create a new Activity Template

2. Click the Create button in the Activity Template page to add a new Jira issue file to Activity.

Permissions

Check your permissions.

If you don't see the Create button, you don't have access to create new activity templates. Please contact your administrator.

3. Name you Activity Template and give it a description

4. Select and add components to the Activity Template

You may add as many components as you like in the template. That is, the Activity Template may contain zero or several issue files, filters and pages. You may move them up or down.

Select the project delivery JIra Issue Component Template from the drop down list.

Always create the Jira Issue Component Template first

Remember, before you can add an issue list to your Activity Template, you must first create and Issue Component by following step 1.1. You cannot directly add an issue file from here, you must add an issue component template.

5. Confirm the Activity Template creation

What's next

Remember that you can add several issue component templates in a single Activity Template. One great usage of that is to split your issue templates and reuse them over different Activity templates. Ok, now that you have an Activity Template ready to be created and instantiated, let's do that! Read section Creating (Instantiating) a new Activity (and its issues)
