Tableau Bridge is required to setup scheduled refreshes for Tableau Connector Pro for Jira inside Tableau Online.

Use Tableau Bridge to Keep Tableau Online Data Fresh


  1. Download and install Tableau Bridge from this link: Tableau Bridge.

  2. After the installation is complete, Sign in to Tableau Online account from Tableau Bridge.

  3. Tableau Bridge client icon will appear in Windows System Tray.

  4. Publish the Tableau Workbook from Tableau Desktop to Tableau Online.

    1. Make sure the Connection type for the Data Source is set to Extract.

    2. In Tableau Desktop, navigate to Server > Publish Workbook.

    3. Select “Tableau Online”.

    4. Login to your Tableau Online account.

    5. Click Edit next to Data Sources.

    6. Select,

      1. Publish Type: Published separately

      2. Authentication: Embedded Password

    7. Publish the workbook.

  5. Login to Tableau Online

    1. Navigate to Explore > default project.

    2. Click the published Data Source Extract.

    3. Go to Extract Refreshes.

    4. To schedule refresh with Bridge, in the data source's menu click Schedule with Bridge(Legacy).

    5. Select the Computer on which Tableau Bridge client is installed, configure the refresh schedule and click Create.

  6. Go Back to the computer with Tableau Bridge Client. You should see the published Data Source.

  7. Click on the Data Source Name, leave the username and password blank, and click Save.

  8. Click on the Data Source name again and click Schedule.

  9. Tableau Online site will launch. You can Change Frequency of the scheduled refresh as required.
