With this release, we are pleased to bring XLSX support to the Excel macro - 6.x . The new processing that supports the XLSX format also supports the older XLS format. However, we have been careful to preserve compatibility of existing macros by continuing to use, by default, the legacy processing that has been available for many years. This makes it an easy choice to upgrade without worrying about changes to existing pages.
A new processOption parameter is available on the Excel macro that allows a specific macro to request specific processing support, however, we recommend it be left set as Default. This defaults to an administrator configured value provided in the app's configuration screen. The initial default for this global parameter is Legacy which provides optimal compatibility with previous behavior. We recommend administrators not change this until they have a chance to verify with representative excel files on their site to ensure compatible output. There is no compelling need to change from using the Legacy support at this time and there are no plans to remove the support.
