How to Create SLA Reports

Time to SLA gives you numerous options to configure your reports to suit your unique needs. As of this writing, you can create four types of reports:

  • SLA Summary Report lets you see the most important information about your SLAs in the most concise way possible.

  • SLA Detail Report provides a more in-depth look into your SLAs.

  • SLA Durations Report enables you to create bar, stacked bar, and line chart reports for a selected time period and content.

  • SLA Status Report allows you to present SLA status information as a pie chart.

When should you use which?

The SLA Summary Report is useful for developing issue-based reports, whereas the SLA Detail Report is better for creating SLA-based reports. Meanwhile, the SLA Durations Report is perfect for visualizing your work and getting information across in an instant.


SLA Summary Report

  1. Go to SLA Reports.

  2. Click Report Type and select SLA Summary Report.

  3. Select Filter Type to limit the scope of your issues by utilizing either Project, JQL, or Issue Filters.

  4. Select the SLAs you want to generate the report for. Keep in mind that the menu displays all of your SLAs, both enabled and disabled. Leave blank to include them all.

  5. Customize the report to your needs by selecting More, Format, and/or adding Columns.

When filtering the report, use the More button to narrow down the scope of your SLAs.

  1. Click Generate to create your Summary Report.

  2. That’s it! The report will now be accessible from the list below. Here is an example:


SLA Detail Report

SLA Details Report allows you to see all of your detailed issues and SLA information on a single page.

  • Issue

  • SLA Name

  • SLA Indicator

  • SLA Status

  • Issue Type

  • Summary

  • Priority

  • Reporter

  • Assignee

  • Status

  • Start Time

  • Deadline

  • End Time

  • Working Duration

  • Remaining Duration

  • Paused Duration

To create an SLA Detail Report:

  1. Go to SLA Reports.

  2. Click Report Type and select SLA Detail Report.

  3. Select Filter Type to limit the scope of your issues by utilizing either Project, JQL, or Issue Filters.

  4. Select the SLAs you want to generate the report for. Keep in mind that the menu displays all of your SLAs, both enabled and disabled. Leave it blank to include them all.

  5. Customize the report to your needs by clicking More to add filters.

  6. Use the SLA Columns and Issue Columns dropdowns to add or remove columns from your report.

  7. Click Generate to create your SLA Detail Report.

SLA Durations Report

In a report, charts go a long way in illustrating findings that are clear and concise. With SLA Durations Report, you can create:

  • Bar chart reports

  • Stacked bar chart reports

  • Line chart reports

Here you can see all the options you have when creating a new SLA Durations Report.

  1. Chart Interval – Allows you to set the time period for your report. Options are: Custom, Last month, Past one month, Past three months, etc.

  2. Chart Type – You can create two types of charts: Line and Bar.

  3. X Axis – Choose whether SLA Start Time, SLA End Time, or SLA Deadline will be on your X-Axis.

  4. Y Axis – Select if your Y-Axis will be Days, Hours, Minutes, or Seconds.

  5. Period – The data on the chart can be displayed monthly or weekly.

To create an SLA Durations Report:

  1. Go to SLA Reports.

  2. Click Report Type and select SLA Durations Report.

  3. Select Filter Type to limit the scope of your issues by utilizing either Project, JQL, or Issue Filters.

  4. Select the SLAs you want to generate the report for. Keep in mind that the menu displays all of your SLAs, both enabled and disabled. Leave blank to include them all.

  5. Click Chart Interval to set a time period for your report.

  6. Customize the report to your needs by selecting More, Format, and/or adding Columns.

  7. Click Generate to create your SLA Durations Report.

Check out the two screenshots below. The only difference between the two screenshots is that the duration format of the y-axis is changed from day to hour. Examine how a single change in an SLA value changes the chart.


SLA Status Report

Pie charts are useful for displaying a parts-to-whole connection for categorical or nominal data. With Time to SLA for Jira Cloud, you can present SLA status information as a pie chart.

To generate an SLA Status Report:

  1. Go to SLA Reports.

  2. Click Report Type and select SLA Status Report.

  3. Select Filter Type to limit the scope of your issues by utilizing either Project, JQL, or Issue Filters.

  1. Select the SLAs you want to generate the report for. Keep in mind that the menu displays all of your SLAs, both enabled and disabled. Leave blank to include them all.

  2. Click Chart Interval to set a time period for your report. You can filter the chart data based on SLA Start Time, SLA End Time, or SLA Deadline within an interval you choose.

  3. Customize the report to your needs by selecting More, Format, and/or adding Columns.

  4. Click Generate to create your SLA Status Report.

Tada! Your report should look something like this. Below the pie chart, you can also see the information in a summary table format:

You can click on a legend label to remove that status value from the pie chart display. Check out the image below to see how the pie chart changes after EXCEEDED is removed:
