Assign Issue to Specific User Role Post Function

This page is about JEP Cloud. Using Jira On-Prem? Click the On-Prem button above.

When the transition is executed, the issue will be assigned to a user in a specified role. It is possible to assign the issue to a random user with that project role or to a user with that role who has been the assignee of the issue before.

Please keep in mind that if you use this post function within "Create Issue Transition", the post function should be placed right after the Creates the issue originally statement.

To add the Assign Issue to Specific User Role post function, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Jira cog icon > Issues > Workflows.

  2. After finding the workflow, go to the three-dots icon and click Edit. Navigate to the transition of your workflow.

  6. Select the project role and enable Last Active User In Role if you want to assign the issue to the user who was the most recent assignee (according to the project role) for that issue.

  7. Click Add, and you’ll be redirected to the Post Functions list.

  8. Don’t forget to click Publish Draft to publish the workflow and save your changes.
