Visio for Confluence is now Data Center approved!

The Visio for Confluence app version 5.3 is now a Data Center approved app for the Atlassian Marketplace. In addition to being Data Center compatible, the app is now tested and verified that it complies with Data Center scalability and availability standards. This ensures a high standard of reliability in a cluster and performance at scale.

Improved Visio for Confluence Configuration page

Administrators can now see an enhanced and improved categorization of configuration parameters required for an efficient and optimal app performance.

Ability to access Visio files from remote locations through URLs

Administrators and users can now access and render Visio files from remote locations and other applications like Bitbucket, GitLab, or GitHub with URLs. With URLs, Visio files located in public locations and private repositories can be rendered on your Confluence pages with the URL to Visio file parameter in the macro editor.

Ability to control access to remote locations on the app level

Administrators can now allow or restrict users from accessing external sources. This control is applied through two parameters in Global Configuration:

• Restrict URL access allows administrators to control access to sites that conform to the Confluence Whitelist. By default, access to all sites is allowed, and if enabled, only those URLs that are allowed by Confluence can be accessed.
• Blacklist domains contains a pre-defined set of domains that are restricted for users. By default, access to all domains is permitted, and if enabled, users are restricted from accessing these domains.

Display Visio diagrams from external sources with profiles

Administrators can now configure profiles which specify a set of parameters that can be used to access external data from other applications such as GitLab and GitHub. This feature enables safe and easy access to external data by ensuring sensitive information, such as login credentials and access tokens, are hidden behind a pre-configured profile. Thus, users only need to provide the rest of the URL in the macro's settings to access the content that the relevant macro must process.

Administrators can create, update, and delete profiles from the Configuration page. Users can then select a pre-defined profile when configuring their table using the Visio Viewer macro, and simply provide the URL of their Visio data through the macro configuration.

Render Visio files seamlessly with application links

Link an application such as Bitbucket, GitLab, or GitHub with Confluence using an Application Link, and skip authentication at the macro level using user name and password entirely. If a URL with the base URL of a linked application is given in the URL to Visio file parameter in the macro editor, it acts like a direct link to the required Visio file. For example, if the URL used to link Bitbucket with Confluence is https://bitbucket.domain.com and the URL in URL to Visio file is https://bitbucket.domain.com/repository/file.vsd, the macro recognizes this link and directly renders file.vsd on the Confluence page without asking for user credentials.
