In-page hyperlinks

In-page hyperlinks

In-page links to another page in the source space are updated to published pages in the target space on publishing.

Comala Publishing updates/modifies the space values for the link within the page URL. Confluence updates the contentId in the URL.

For example,

  • adding a hyperlink in a page in the source DEV space

When published to the target PROD space

  • the link is updated to link to the published page in the target space

The page contentId in the link URL changes. It is updated to the published and synced target space page.

The Confluence link macro allows the link to be set by

  • searching and pasting the URL

  • display text (optional)

The macro can be set as different UI display options

  • URL

  • inline

  • card

  • embed

For details on how these Confluence link types are published and displayed, see Publishing and Syncing a page with in-page links.

Links to other spaces in the cloud site

When publishing, adding a link to a page outside the source space on the same cloud site is treated as an absolute URL. This link is not changed when publishing the source space page to the target space page. Short links are treated in the same way and are not updated.

Links to another space separately configured for publishing in the same Cloud site

Ensure you link to the page in the target space for these linked publishing spaces. This link is not updated when syncing the page (it is treated as an absolute URL). Adding a link to the other source space can direct a user to a draft page, but access can be restricted.

Links to in-page headings or anchors in another source space page

Confluence treats headers and anchors differently from the Confluence link macro types.

  • links added to a source page header to another source page are not updated on publishing the page

  • in-page hyperlinks to headers and anchors in another source space page are not updated on publishing the page
