Getting Started with Comala Document Management

Overview

A Comala Document Management workflow automates the review and approvals process for a page or blog post in a Confluence space.

The simple workflow in the diagram consists of two states: Draft and Approved.

A workflow can be configured to include a single final state for your approved final content.

A workflow transition to the final state can be used together with a third party app, for example with Comala Publishing, to manage publishing of a page or blog post to a different space.

Workflow added and applied to a page

On the page, editors can view the current page progress using the added workflow byline and manage the approval process using the workflow popup.

The applied workflow allows you to

Mode of workflow application - whole space or page-by-page

A workflow can be added and applied

  • to an individual page

  • across all the pages and blog posts in a space

In a production environment space, workflows are usually applied across all the space content (pages, blog posts) - the space administrator manages the application of the workflow and the documentation process

Different workflows can be applied to different content in each space by the space administrator, with application to each page or blog post filtered using a content label and/or to the type of content (page or blog post).

Only one workflow can be active on an individual page or blog post at any one time.
