Custom Attributes for Time Entry

Reports and Timesheets for Jira and Timesheets for Jira add-ons, allow users to define custom attributes at a worklog level (for example, a Contractor checkbox or a Billable (Y/N) field).

Worklog Custom Attributes page can be accessed via AdministrationTime Tracking SettingsWorklog Attributes

  2. As shown in the image below, you can define 4 types of attributes: checkbox, list, numeric input and text input

    1. Label: shows up on the time entry box

    2. Options: appears for checkbox (unchecked or checked by default) and list (add/update values)

    3. Required: check the box if the entry for this attribute is mandatory

    4. Apply to Non-Project Tasks: this defines if the worklog attribute will be available for non-project tasks (if any) as well

    5. Scope: this defines if the worklog attribute will be available for all projects or projects selected here

  3. Click on “Save” button to create the new worklog attribute

  3. Deactivated attributes, can then either be activated back or deleted permanently

Delete Custom Attribute

  1. It is recommended to keep the custom attribute in deactivated mode, if users have already entered data against it

  2. If you delete a custom attribute, it will also delete any data entered against it (data will not show up in the reports)

  3. To delete a custom attribute permanently, click the delete button shown in the image above

Please note that the delete operation cannot be reverted.

Entering data in worklog custom attributes

Once defined, these attributes will show up on the app Time Entry interface while logging time. Here the users can enter and save values for these attributes. The red asterisk (*) indicates the attributes that have been marked as mandatory.

Reporting on worklog custom attributes

Active worklog custom attributes are available in the fields selector bar under "Time Tracking (Worklogs)" section. From here the fields can be added to reports for reporting purposes.
