sub-items

Sub-items are supported by BigPicture

Verify the Task structure settings of your box to ensure the automatic structure is set up correctly.

1. Open the BigPicture box

2. From the module dropdown (top right) select Box Configuration

3. Go to Tasks > Task structure

4. Adjust the settings and Save

Check the column mapping settings to ensure data is correctly synchronized between BigPicture and your monday boards.

1. Go to your BigPicture box

2. Click the wrench icon at top right

3. Select Column mapping

4. Verify the mapping of items and subitems

Note: sub-item columns can be different then item columns. Adjust the monday board columns before changing the column mapping in BigPicture. Currently, changes made to monday board columns are visible in BigPicture after up to 1h (future releases will address the wait time).

If sub-items don’t exist the column mapping of sub-items is greyed out.

Column mapping

You can map the columns directly in the context of your box

1. Go to your monday box

2. Click the wrench icon at top right

3. Select Column mapping

4. Pop-up containing the mapping of items and sub-items apperas

The pop-up contains board that are in the scope of your BigPicture box.

Column mapping - assignee

People columns containing more than one person can be mapped to serve as an assignee

• If there is only one user in a field, the field can be edited directly in BigPicture

• If there are multiple users in a field, the field CANNOT be edited

BigPicture displays the first person in the monday board column. Data cannot be edited directly in BigPicture.

Item view

BigPicture Item view contains three elements

• Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

In the dropdown you can see the boxes the item is in. Select the box contex to view the task in the tree.

• Dependencies

See the list of tasks linked to an item. The list is broken down into incoming and outgoing dependencies.

• Skills

Add skills to an item. The skills help you assign tasks to people and teams. They are taken into account by the find perfect match algorithm that suggests an assignee based on resource availability and skills.

BigPicture supports empty status

Column mapping

Assignee can be mapped only to a single person column

The column settings have to limit the possible number of people to 1. If a column allows for adding more people, it cannot be mapped to serve as an assignee.

Note: after monday board column settings have been adjusted, it may take up to an hour for a people column to show up as a mapping option.

Find the perfect match

When all options are equally good, “Find the perfect match“ can propose up to 5 suggestions.

Basic tasks

Basic task have status colors

Basic tasks have three colors based on status

• To do = grey

• In progress = blue

• Done = green

Task details dialog displays task summary instead of key

Color of tasks correspond ot monday status colors

Status

Completed state

You can specify which statuses represent completed tasks. BigPicture accounts for status categories configured for monday boards. To reflect the Status column from monday in BigPicture, map the Status field in BigPicture with the Status column in monday.

Custom colors supported

Custom colors of statuses are supported by all BigPicture modules and can reflect the monday board status column setup.

BigPicture widget

BigPicture widgets merged into a single view

BigPicture item widgets are merged into one view and contain all relevant information about:

• Boxes the item is in

• Outgoing and incoming dependencies with information of origin board of connected items or groups

• Skills assigned to an item

Resources module

Item ID is hidden on the Resources module timeline

RESOURCES MODULE

The change makes the item summary more visible.

Column mapping

Shortcut to the column mapping settings is available in the column settings and under the wrench icon

GANTT MOUDULE

When box scope is based on a single monday board, a pop-up opens. When the box scope is based on multiple monday boards, you are redirected to the column mapping section of App Configuration.

Limitations:

For boxes based on a single monday board, a pop-up appears:

• read-only pop-up - users that don’t have permissions to change the column mapping settings

• editable pop-up - users that have sufficient permissions can change the column mapping settings directly in the pop-up

For boxes based on multiple monday boards, a user is taken to App Configuration page:

• disabled - users that don’t have permissions to change the column mapping settings and can’t access App Configuration

• redirect - users that have sufficient permissions can change the column mapping settings are taken to the App configuration screen

Progress

BigPicture progress field has been removed from Monday

The field was redundant - it was not connected to any monday board data.

Status color

Status in BigPicture Monday is colored based on Monday color statuses

Column Views

Adjust the column width to fit its contents (Gantt module)

Double-click on the right edge of a column header to automatically adjust the column width to fit the content:

• widen the column to display the full content

• narrow down the column to optimize the use of column space

Skills

Skills are listed in alphabetical order

When assigning a skill to a user, skills in the dropdown are listed in alphabetical order.

Organize tasks

You can organize tasks using working days, calendar days, and skills.

Reorder tasks using the built-in field values:

• duration working days

• duration calendar days

• skills

Note: The columns have to be visible to make the operation possible (sorting is based on active columns)

Add box (Overview module)

The cursor is greyed out to indicate a box cannot be created (Overview module)

When you cannot create a Box, the cursor changes to indicate the action is not possible.

Scale to fit

“Scale to fit” is disabled when the box is empty or tasks don’t have dates

When none of the box tasks have dates, or a task(s) without dates is selected, the “Scale to fit“ button is disabled.
