Confluence administrators can collectively enable numbered headings for all spaces and specify how they can be applied across all pages globally.

Do the following to access the global numbering option:

  1. Log in as a Confluence administrator.

  2. Navigate to Settings → Numbered Headings → Configuration. The Global numbering option for Numbered Headings is displayed.

  3. Enable the Enable Global Numbering option.

Any changes made to the settings are saved automatically.

The hierarchy of numbering configuration starts with the page level taking precedence, followed by the space level, and then to the global level.
